Suggested 2 Day Itinerary in Cork
Cork Attractions
Day 1
Morning:
Wander through the English Market which is free to explore, food and souvenirs can be bought here. The market is one of Ireland’s oldest covered markets featuring local cheeses, seafood, and artisan stalls. Patrick Street in the city centre is the traditional shopping area, with a wide range of department stores including Primark & Brown Thomas. Crawford Art Gallery is also free of charge hosting fine paintings and sculptures, plus a cosy café.
Afternoon:
Stop at Anne’s church and climb the Shandon Bells Tower for €6. Ring the bells yourself and enjoy sweeping city views at the top, the tower is home to the famous “four‑faced liar” clock. Fitzgerald Park & Cork Public Museum are both free to enter with another small café and scenic walkways. This could also be a good opportunity to make a trip to Blarney Castle, if you are intrested in Irish folk tales and mythology the Blarney stone is a must see.
Evening:
Why not listen to some traditional music at Sin É or catch a gig at The Crane Lane or the Everyman Theatre. Traditional Irish Pubs can also be found all over the city, enjoy the culture and live music here too. Some pubs include: Mutton Lane Inn, The Oliver Plunkett and The Corner House.
Day 2
Morning:
Visit Cork City Gaol, the former 19th-century prison turned museum, offers a fascinating glimpse into Ireland’s penal history with restored cells and interactive exhibits. Visitors can explore its haunting atmosphere and learn about the lives of prisoners during that era for just 10 euro.
Afternoon:
Why not take the train to Cobh, one of the most famous harbours in Ireland. You can stroll through Cobh town’s colorful streets, or visit the tallest cathedral in Ireland, St Colman’s Cathedral which is free. At Cobh Heritage Centre the Titanic Experience offers an authentic insight into the famed ships last porting stop before it sank. At Cobh Spike Island can be toured just off the coast by boat, it is filled with history and culture.
Evening:
Return to Cork City where you can catch a show at the Cork Opera House. Alternativily grab a pint of Murphy’s Stout, a local brew and head out to see the cities nightlife. Some spots include: Céili by the Lee, City Limits Comedy Club and Costigan’s Pub.
